Akil's practice is built on a core belief: people are resilient and dynamic. Whatever the obstacle, each person has the capacity to survive and adapt, and each individual already carries their own strengths. Those strengths are often the very foundation of the work.

He brings kindness, respect and genuine curiosity to every session. Akil doesn't arrive with a fixed plan. He arrives ready to listen, to ask good questions, and to help clients identify the options, skills and capacities they already have.

His approach is integrative and strengths-based, drawing on a range of frameworks tailored to what each person actually needs. Akil works with clients 16 years and older.

Book with Akil
"I believe people are resilient and dynamic. Each individual has their own strengths, and these strengths are often the foundation for growth and healing."

How Akil Works

Strengths-Based

Rather than focusing on what's broken, Akil starts with what's already working. He helps clients identify and build on their existing capacities, the most durable foundation for lasting change.

Person-Centred

Akil tailors his approach to each individual, meeting people where they are and creating space for self-discovery rather than directing clients toward any fixed destination. You are the expert on your own life.

Humanistic and Integrative

Akil draws on CBT, mindfulness-based approaches, narrative therapy and motivational interviewing, selecting what fits each person rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. He is also a Master ART Therapist, trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy for trauma and PTSD.

Culturally Sensitive

Akil brings a culturally aware lens to his practice, recognizing that identity, background and lived experience shape how people relate to themselves and to the world. He creates a space where clients feel genuinely seen.
