Tyrone Powell, MA, CCC, is a Certified Canadian Counsellor based in Edmonton, Alberta. He holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and practices from a Gestalt-informed, holistic perspective, one that integrates an awareness of how environment, systems and relationships shape mental health.

Tyrone believes that healing happens through awareness: of self, others, and the world we live within. With experience in men's issues, identity, stress, anxiety, trauma and personal growth, he focuses on helping clients reconnect to themselves and their world in meaningful ways.

Outside of session, Tyrone is a husband and father of two young children, which shapes his belief in balance, connection and authenticity. He is also committed to advocating for mental health through his It's Okay, Man podcast, recognizing that societal and systemic factors deeply impact individual well-being.

How Tyrone Works

Gestalt-Informed

Tyrone's practice is grounded in Gestalt therapy, which emphasizes present-moment awareness, personal responsibility, and the relationship between self and environment. He helps clients develop deeper insight into how they show up in the world and why.

Holistic and Systems-Aware

Tyrone integrates awareness of how societal and systemic factors shape individual well-being, recognizing that mental health does not exist in isolation from the world we live in. His work is attuned to identity, culture and context.

Men's Issues and Identity

Tyrone has particular experience working with men navigating identity, purpose, stress and the everyday pressures of adult life. Often noted as one of the few Black male therapists in Edmonton, he brings a unique and needed perspective to this work.

Compassionate and Direct

Tyrone combines compassion with direct, grounded insight, encouraging genuine self-awareness and lasting change. Beyond the therapy room, he advocates for mental health through his It's Okay, Man podcast at hellotyrone.ca.
