Hannah Barrington
BScN, MC, RN, CCCHannah is a psychotherapist who specializes in supporting the mental health of children and teens. With more than 20 years of experience as both a registered nurse and counsellor, she combines clinical expertise with a warm, compassionate approach. Her passion for psychotherapy grew while she was working in pediatrics, where she saw the growing need for specialized mental health care for young people.
She holds a BScN and a Master of Counselling, and has extensive experience supporting neurodivergent children and teens. Hannah works with concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, and behavioural challenges, using evidence-based approaches tailored to each young person's strengths and needs.
Hannah believes that every young person deserves to feel understood and supported, and is capable of thriving. By partnering closely with families, she helps children and teens build confidence, and create lasting, meaningful change.
"My mission is to help young people build resilience, develop healthy coping strategies, and achieve their fullest potential."
How Hannah Works
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT is one of Hannah's core frameworks. She uses it to help children and teens understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and develop more helpful responses to what's hard, in ways that are accessible and age-appropriate.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
DBT gives young people practical skills for managing intense emotions, tolerating distress, and improving relationships. Hannah weaves DBT skills into her sessions in ways that actually stick for young clients.
Play Therapy
For younger children, play is the language of therapy. Hannah uses play-based approaches to help children express what they cannot yet put into words, and to build new skills through the medium that comes most naturally to them.
Neurodivergent Affirming
Hannah has specialized expertise with neurodivergent children and adolescents. ADHD, autism and related differences aren't problems to be fixed. They're part of who a person is. Her work is affirming, practical and tailored to how each young person thinks and learns.
